By Film Threat Staff | August 15, 2006

Page Ostrow of Ostrow and Company has closed an International distribution deal for the teen comedy “The Surfer King” with MarVista Entertainment for a sizable advance. MarVista will handle International theatrical, television and video distribution.

Ostrow says, “We’re thrilled MarVista is on board to distribute this funny teen gem and look forward to bringing this film to audiences everywhere.”

“The Surfer King” is a teen comedy about a seventeen year-old Robbie Zirpollo (Randy Wayne) who was recently uprooted from Oceanside, CA to a small town in Colorado after his father bilked the family’s savings to run off with his secretary in Mexico. To help Robbie with the transition, his mom (Lindsey Wagner) secures him a summer job at the popular Water World on the grounds crew, where Robbie meets fellow employees Alex (Ben Ziff), Aokee (Gabriel Iglesias), “Pipeman” (Alan Thicke) and the park owner’s gorgeous daughter Tiffany (Cerina Vincent). When Robbie gets promoted to the concessions Surf & Snack shack, his new friends convince him to enter the Employee Olympics to ride the park wave so he can bring the Surfer King trophy back to the concessions crew.

“The Surfer King” was written and directed by Bernard Murray. Produced by Bernard Murray, Robbie Repola, Joe Adams and Page Ostrow. Executive produced by Mark Raymonds and Brian Reichel.
