Well, I’m assuming it was the movie, but it could’ve been a cumulative effect from general Park City stress, but at the same time, I felt fine going into the movie, I felt fine for all but 95% of the movie and I felt better when it all ended. I’ll most likely dip into this more in the review, and it sure makes for a fun disclaimer for the film: Those of you in eagle hats seeing lots of movies in a crowded environment may wish to drink tons of water and lie down during the film.
I just… the movie was almost over, and all of a sudden I started getting really warm. Seconds later, I was sweating like a sprinkler was set up on my brow. Then I got that feeling. You know, the one that says “Dude, you’re getting light-headed. Lie down now, or you’re going to hit the floor.” I fought it, however, and as the scene I was watching went on, I blacked out.
What I remember next was shaking my head violently from side to side, like you would do if surprised by someone outside your peripheral vision. A second passed, and I realized I didn’t know where I was. A second later, I looked up and the scene was still playing. All told, I think I blacked out for maybe 2 seconds, and nobody noticed because I never fell out of my seat. But I definitely lost consciousness.
On top of that, I was sitting next to the co-director of the film, David Brothers, and immediately became self-conscious. Did he see me shake all crazy-like? Did I make a noise? What happened?
I’m feeling great now, and I felt much better immediately after my incident, so… did Crispin Glover’s film hit me on such a subconscious level that my body reacted even though my mind had not? It was weird…
You really passed out? Did you pee your pants? 😉
Sheesh…sounds like Sundance is part HELL WEEK.
Surreality reboot!
DUDE!! I hadn’t yet read this when I did the news story that reads “POLAND DISHES SUNDANCE BUZZ” on the front page….whoa…weird!!!
Hope you’re feeling better.
