It’s not unusual to give today’s kids a “Time Out” when they’re in need of a little discipline. The shtick in director Robbie Chafitz’ clever short “Time Out,” however, is that the “kids” getting time outs are actually kindergartners in grown men’s’ bodies. As clever and well-written as “Time Out” is, clearly the best thing about the film is just the cheap laugh spectacle of two grown men acting and speaking — convincingly — like seven year-olds. Chafitz has his actors play it straight too, which only adds to the humorous absurdity of it all. Whether sharing the joys of eating paste or the mutual dread of catching cooties, “Time Out” is a dead-panned comical trip to the kiddy slammer.
