Aliens Uncovered: Invasion

I’ll be honest. I’m not an alien conspiracy kind of guy, but I’m in on the journey. What an alien conspiracy theorist and I have in common is that we believe flat earthers are nuts. Aliens Uncovered: Invasion is the fifth installment of Clive Christopher’s Aliens Uncovered series that we’ve reviewed at Film Threat. If you’ve gotten this far, you know aliens exist… but have they already arrived?

This episode takes us to Clive Christopher’s broadcast booth for another episode of the “Countdown to Contact” podcast. He opens by reminiscing about his 15-year-old self, when he moved from Philadelphia to Arizona and discovered the Phoenix Lights event. From there, he developed a skywatch team that roams the world (mostly the U.S.) to witness extraterrestrial events. The subject of today’s show is a massive object in space known as “3I/Atlas,” which passed Earth and has suddenly disappeared. Scientists would tell you it’s an interstellar comet that poses no threat to Earth. Christopher believes it is something more than just a comet.

Throughout the film, Christopher takes phone calls from the listeners of his live podcast. The first call is from Brian, who is on his team, and he shares his opinion on what exactly the 3I/Atlas is, as it moves insanely fast and has lights at the front. Then Natasha calls, wondering about life beyond Earth, and Christopher asks her whether she believes aliens are living on Earth today. The third call is from Teresa, who sees strange lights at night and insists they don’t match any aircraft or satellites. Finally, Andre (Andre McBride) appears as part of Clive’s wider on-the-ground network, linked to recent skywatch efforts.

“The subject of today’s show is a massive object in space known as ‘3I/Atlas,’a which passed Earth and has suddenly disappeared.”

Don’t call me a believer just yet. Still, I’m fascinated by Clive Christopher and the callers. My only criticism of the piece is that, through most of the documentary, I’m wondering if Christopher and his show are real. As far as my research goes, it’s all real. If it is real, then the production values of his doc are too slick. There’s something to be said about sounding and feeling like a podcast. The sound of his callers is technically perfect… crisp and clean.

The doc itself is pretty much Clive Christopher front and center as he/we listen to callers. Every so often, Christopher will monologue. My favorite was the idea that if aliens do take over, it would be the hacker community that takes them down. Christopher also employs some interesting animation to create imagery in our minds and serve as transitions from point to point.

To me, the real strength is how engaging Christopher makes the subject matter. If aliens are what you’re into, he gets pretty deep. If they aren’t, then go ahead and call me crazy.

By the time Clive Christopher wraps Aliens Uncovered: Invasion, it’s less a verdict and more of a loose hangout with like-minded people. Whether you’re a true believer or just rubbernecking the unknown, Christopher makes it easy to “go with the flow” on this extraterrestrial ride.
