Out Of Darkness: Heavy Is The Crown Vol. 2 picks up almost exactly where the first film leaves off. Writer-director Amadeuz Christ brings interviewees Professor James Small, Atlantis Browder, David Banner, and others back for a wide-ranging look at the African Sacred Science Spiritual System. But instead of looking at the truth behind the myths that inspired the world’s religions, this time the film looks at the texts themselves. Christ examines the spiritual writings of ancient Egypt and their parallels to the writings of better-known religions. The invasions of Greek and Roman culture and beliefs, which dismantled native ideology, are given their proper due as well.
The first volume was very captivating but had some technical flaws that prevented it from truly taking off. The good news is that the echoing voice distortion is largely absent here. The score is still non-stop but is turned down, making it less distracting for the most part. This already makes the feature a slight jump up from the previous installment.
“…examines the spiritual writings of ancient Egypt and their parallels to the writings of better-known religions. The invasions of Greek and Roman culture and beliefs…”
But what pushes Out Of Darkness: Heavy Is The Crown Vol. 2 into much better territory is the better use of animation. The hieroglyphs are brought to life in a semi-cartoony way, but it works nicely. Plus, the interviewees are still quite knowledgeable, especially when discussing the ways Europeans took over. The proof provided to highlight what is being said is convincing and authentic.
Out Of Darkness: Heavy Is The Crown Vol. 2 is a stronger and more interesting historical documentary than Out Of Darkness: Heavy Is The Crown Vol. 1. While over 2 hours, the pacing never slips, with each expert wonderfully articulating their well-researched points. As with the last installment, history buffs and religious scholars will get a lot out of viewing this several times.
"…convincing and authentic."
