Prepare to have your head caved in by an outstanding splatter opera for the ages in the top-level horror feature Dolly, directed by Rod Blackhurst. Macy (Fabianne Therese) is going out camping with her boyfriend, Chase (Seann William Scott), just the two of them. While waiting in the car for Chase to drop off his young daughter with Aunt Sadie (Michalina Scorzelli), Macy confides on the phone with her sister, Rachel (Kate Cobb), about her reservations with taking the next step.

She loves Chase, and his daughter was great, but Macy never wanted to be a mother, especially after what she and Rachel went through with their own mother. Chase and Macy go out to a beautiful spot in the woods, with winding trails that lead to a scenic outlook. Along the way, they find many porcelain baby dolls attached to trees, which weren’t ever there before.

They wonder if it is some kind of art project, though it seems unlikely, as it is too deep in the woods for anyone to see it. Macy finds it hilarious and starts playing with the dolls to Chase’s disgust. He doesn’t want Macy to touch him with her doll hands, as he is sure the toys were infested.

“Along the way, they find many porcelain baby dolls attached to trees, which weren’t ever there before.”

When they reach the outlook, Chase secretly gets the wedding ring he brought out ready, when suddenly the tune of a tinkly music box starts up. It is nearby and more than a little creepy, so Chase puts the box back in his pocket and tells Macy to stay put while he checks it out.

He follows the music through the doll-filled trees until he reaches a clearing stacked with rows of decrepit baby dolls. In front of him is the enormous form of a hulk of a woman (Max the Impaler) in a dress with her back to him, making miserable mewing noises. When Chase checks to see what is wrong, the form turns around, revealing the giant porcelain baby doll head she is wearing. That’s when Chase sees all the blood covering the huge baby doll dress…

Back in the day, when Tobe Hooper unleashed The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it also unleashed a decades-long wave of extreme indie horror pictures that dared you to keep your eyes on the screen. These are pictures that drag you into the Ed Gein-like psychotic worlds of homicidal maniacs hidden off the road and are punctuated by hideous acts of mutilation.
