One pill will make you larger, while one pill will make you a twitching Skee-ball in the terrific indie street drug horror film Into The Gravel Pit, directed by Colin Bressler from a script by Bressler and Ronald Mercado.

Carter (Samantha Makley) is at the gym, working out with her lifelong pals, Miley (Rylie Rodriguez) and Isaiah (Mikael Dawkins). She tells them about a co-worker of hers who everyone finds out is eating his family. She continues to talk about it when they all come to her apartment for drinks. This is boring, so they turn to drugs. They all decide to go on a group hallucinogen experience to bond together, as Isaiah knows a guy who can get some very powerful s**t. Meanwhile, Madge (Lisa Wilcox) and Edger (Paul T. Taylor) are getting a room ready for a visit from their daughter (Bobbie Grace), who is losing the battle against cancer. Madge confesses to Edger that she doesn’t think she can go on herself after her daughter dies.

“After the shirtless, tattooed drug dealer sells them a baggie of pink crystals, he warns them that it isn’t anything to f**k around with before he tears off on his scooter.”

Meanwhile, Carter, Riley, and Isaiah are waiting in a junkyard for the drugs. After the shirtless, tattooed drug dealer (Joe Walker) sells them a baggie of pink crystals, he warns them that it isn’t anything to f**k around with before he tears off on his scooter. Carter has set up a trippy wonderland with a glowing astral plane color scheme at her place, and all three ingest the illegal substance. Things do not turn out well for anyone. Darkness has descended—send in the drugs.

You are going to think I am on drugs for recommending this movie, but they actually aren’t due to kick in for another 45 minutes. Into The Gravel Pit is an outstanding, blood-bathed modern take on ’70s drug scare flicks, a montage of which runs in the background of the opening credits.
