Los Angeles Comic Con 2024 wasn’t just about cosplay and fan hype—it was a full-on masterclass for the behind-the-scenes nerds, thanks to Impact24 PR’s Panel Superblock Series. This year, attendees got a golden ticket into the magic of post-production and filmmaking, featuring deep dives into fan-favorite projects like Only Murders in the Building, Hold Your Breath, City of Dreams, and more. It was the place for anyone curious about how their favorite stories get made.
Impact24 PR rolled out its first-ever Post-Production Workshop, taking fans straight into the nitty-gritty of post-production. Picture this: editors, composers, and sound wizards working on scenes from Only Murders in the Building, The Silent Planet, and Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off. Editor Shelly Westerman (OMITB) teamed up with editor Payton Koch, composer Darren Fung, and sound guru John Chalfant to break down their creative process. Koch, for instance, pulled back the curtain on how they pieced together the much-buzzed-about “Pickwick Triplets” scene from OMITB’s Sitzprobe episode, revealing just how much prep and planning went into nailing that split-screen, multi-storyline musical sequence.
Then came the third installment of That’s a Wrap, which brought in a fresh lineup of creatives to talk shop about filmmaking. From writers and directors to composers and makeup artists, they got real about the grind behind the glitz. Angela Harvey (Woman Dies Alone), Guy Moon (Ryan’s World: Titan Universe Adventure), Jennifer “JQ” Quinteros (Hold Your Breath), and Trevor Roach (*City of Dreams*) were just a few of the heavy-hitters spilling industry secrets. Jonathan Scott Friedman, composer for the upcoming remake of Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, geeked out over the challenge of recreating that late 80s/early 90s vibe, complete with nostalgia-laced synths. Since high school, his insights into working with director Wade Allain-Marcus gave the audience a rare look into how deep creative relationships can shape a film’s vision from day one.
For anyone who couldn’t be there, don’t sweat it. Impact24 PR will drop all the panels on their YouTube channel this month. If you’re a fan of peeling back the layers of your favorite films and shows, this is a treasure trove you don’t want to miss.
