When it comes to movie marketing, Mark Steven Bosko is no dummy. In fact, it’s not an exaggeration to say that Bosko knows it all. As author of “The Complete Independent Movie Marketing Handbook,” the Ohio native has been promoting and distributing independent feature films for more than 10 years and, in addition, performing virtually every job on a film production. He has also worked professionally in public relations, marketing and magazine publishing.
I like to think of Mark’s book as, in some way, a companion to my own, “The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide.” I’m grateful to Mark for writing this book, so I don’t have to. By reading both, indie filmmakers will be equipped with all the business knowledge they need to find success in the indie film world.
Mark’s book doles out guerilla-style instruction and offers examples of how to promote, distribute and sell your movie. It’s his take-no-prisoners, no-bullshit approach that sold me to pen the foreword. I like his attitude. In fact, Bosko and I see eye to eye on so many issues regarding independent film, he’s like the clone I never had.
In this interview, I grill the author in hopes of finding out everything I need to know. (Unfortunately, since this interview is like the Cliff Notes version, you’ll have to read the book for the whole story.)
