By Film Threat Staff | April 18, 2008

Think you’re ready for your 15 minutes? Get ready to wrestle with the Paparazzi as MTV and Mark Burnett Productions search for anyone with a productive imagination but zero production dollars to take a chance at winning their own MTV Movie Award with the “2008 MTV Movie Spoof Contest.” Beginning today, viral video gurus can submit original movie shorts parodying scenes from films over the last year to one of their favorite UGC sites. The creators behind the submissions with the most votes will be flown out to Los Angeles to attend the 2008 MTV MOVIE AWARDS and a chance to accept the coveted golden popcorn at the ceremony from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA on June 1.

“The MTV Movie Awards is the only awards show that offers an opportunity for regular Joes and Janes to rub elbows with megastars,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music, Logo and Films Group. “These partnerships with key sites to create the ‘2008 MTV Movie Spoof Contest’ allow everyday viral video visionaries to share their twisted genius with their film idols and peers around the world.”

By partnering with some of the most popular UGC video sites, MTV is giving anyone and everyone with a creative vision their chance to shine in a celeb-filled arena. Submissions and voting begins today on the following sites: Photobucket, MySpace, Daily Motion, Break, Buzznet, Heavy and FunnyorDie. The deadline for submissions on partner sites is May 11th at 11:59pm EST. One finalist from each partner UGC site will move on to the final round on www.movieawards.mtv.com on May 19 where fans vote on who will become the winner of the BEST MOVIE SPOOF Award. Viewers will have until May 26 at 11:59pm ET to post their votes on www.movieawards.mtv.com.
