The Alamo Drafthouse Downtown is giving moviegoers another chance to see Six in Austin. The film, which premiered at South by Southwest last spring, will run July 29 – August 1st.
Six in Austin is a six-film anthology featuring Kat Candler’s elegiac “The Absence of Wings”, Gonzalo Gonzalez’s paranoid techno-thriller “Beset”, Wyatt and Zack Phillips’ real-time “Carlos”, Bob Ray’s violent workplace revenge fantasy “Wrecked”, Geoff Marslett’s high school satire “Out of Bounds” and David and Nathan Zellner’s shaggy dog story “Rummy.”
And then, on August 3rd, The Alamo will screen “Six in Paris”, the 1965 anthology that inspired Six in Austin. “Six in Paris” comprises six vignettes about contemporary Paris by a group of maverick French New Wave directors. The collection features Jean Douchet’s and Jean-Luc Godard’s stories of love and flirtation in “Saint Germain des Prés” and “Montparnasse et Levallois”, Jean Rouch’s depiction of chance meetings that lead to surprise endings in “Gare du Nord”, Jean-Daniel Pollet’s comedic encounter between a brassy prostitute and a mousy dishwasher in “Rue Saint-Denis”, Eric Rohmer’s witty exploration of one man’s paranoia in the aftermath of his brush with a panhandler in “Place de l’Étoile”, and Claude Chabrol’s chilly view of relationships gone bad in “La Muette.”
