This May, Sundance Channel will showcase Japan’s new wave of horror cinema during the Channel’s May FilmFest, “Modern Japanese Horror.” The special five-film series begins on Saturday, May 25th, 2002, with a different title set to air every night at midnight through Wednesday, May 29th.
The directors and films sharing the spotlight are Takashi Miike’s Audition (Odishon); Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Cure (Kyua); Joji Iida’s Another Heaven; Higuchinsky’s Spiral (Uzumaki) and Hideo Nakata’s Ghost Actress, aka Don’t Look Up (Joyurei).
“Modern Japanese Horror” is a rare opportunity to sample a new breed of horror film — all five of the titles are U.S. television premieres.
