The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a newly-restored print of the 1967 classic “In Cold Blood” on [ Friday, November 10th ] at [ 8PM ] at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre. The screening will be followed by a reunion of some of the film’s key players, including stars Scott Wilson and John Forsythe; cinematographer Conrad Hall, who received an Academy Award nomination for his work on the film, Quincy Jones, who wrote the film’s Academy Award-nominated original music score, and assistant director Tom Shaw.
“In Cold Blood” is based on the infamous book by Truman Capote, and tells the story of Perry Smith (Robert Blake) and Dick Hickock (Wilson), who murdered the Clutter family in Holcomb, Kansas in 1959, after invading their farm house on the belief that there was $10,000 to be found. The pair were captured, imprisoned and ultimately hanged for the crime.
Tickets for “In Cold Blood” are $5 for the general public and are available in advance at the Academy during regular business hours, by mail, or on the night of the screening, if still available, when the doors open at 7 p.m. The Academy is located at [ 8949 Wilshire Boulevard ] in Beverly Hills.
