The Had To Be Made Film Festival (HTBMFF) – the first year-round, nationwide film festival – will announce winners of the 2003 Summer Screening Program at the first official HTBMFF Awards Ceremony at the Venetian in Las Vegas, July 31.
Festival Founders Mike Kyle, Donna Du Bain and Richard Green will present the three following Awards to independent filmmakers: Outstanding Festival Feature, Outstanding Festival Short and the Had To Be Made Film Award.
The first annual honorary Had To Be Seen Award, celebrating an independent film that overcame the odds and found its audience will be presented to “Eraserhead.”
The awards show will be emceed by Richard Green (Lynch’s Mulholland Drive), featuring film clips from the finalists and performances by the ZigZag Band, along with special surprise guests. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the non-profit Blues Lab and the 2003 Filmmaker Program.
