Max Winslow And The House Of Secrets is a technology-gone-awry thriller aimed at the entire family. This leaves one of two possibilities open. First off, is that screenwriter Jeff Wild and director Sean Olson sanitized the film to the point where it lacks any sense of threat, as to not scare the children. Alternatively, they could have remembered that fairy tales were meant to show kids the darker side of life and kept the intensity at full throttle.
“…inventor Atticus Virtue personally chose each of them to come to his mansion for one night.”
Max Winslow, short for Maxine (Sydne Mikelle), loves computers and coding but is less fond of people. She along with lacrosse jock Connor (Tanner Buchanan), gamer Benny (Jason Genao), aspiring social media star Sophia (Jade Chynoweth), and loner Aiden (Emery Kelly) win the chance of a lifetime. Superstar inventor Atticus Virtue (Chad Michael Murray) personally chose each of them to come to his mansion for one night.
At the estate, which is run by an artificial intelligence known as Haven (Marina Sirtis) and the robotic butler Sir Mordred (Dale Gibson), the high school students must score points via a series of games. Whoever has the most points by the end wins the mansion. But, something goes wrong, and the games turn deadly. Did Haven malfunction? Or is there something more sinister going on?
