No mid-life crisis for director Jonathan Demme (“Silence of the Lambs”, “Caged Heat”) because he’s too busy collecting mid-life achievement awards. On July 17th, at the 5th Annual Maine International Film Festival, Demme will be presented a mid-life achievement award. The award presentation will be followed by a screening of his film Something Wild. Other Demme films to be screened will include Stop making Sense, “Married to the Mob” and “Silence of the Lambs”.
“It’s a pretty outstanding festival, for the degree of sophistication and the consistent quality of the films, which is something you don’t often see in a small town in an out-of-the-way region,” said Boston-based filmmaker Devon Demonte. “The location probably helps, because it attracts bigger-name filmmakers who want a vacation.”
The 5th Annual Maine International Film Festival begins July 12th and continues through July 21st at the Waterville Opera House and Railroad Square Cinema.
