LETTER FROM THE EDITOR: HANGING THEM UP

By Mark Bell | February 2, 2015

After over twelve years with Film Threat, five of those years as owner/publisher, it is time to move on. Effective March 15, 2015, I will no longer be owner/publisher of Film Threat, nor will I be involved as editor-in-chief or in any other capacity.

Some folks will be bummed out to hear this, but there are a few positives to take away. For one, Film Threat is 30 years old now, and that’s something to celebrate. Then, somewhat burying the lede, is the fact that Chris Gore, founder of Film Threat, will be the one taking over in my place. Yes, that’s right, Chris Gore will be returning to Film Threat as owner and publisher as I exit.

What that means, for the future of all things Film Threat, I will leave up to Chris to announce. Between now and March 15, however, I’ll be continuing to do what I normally do at this time of year (catching up on Sundance/Slamdance reviews, naturally) while beginning the transition away.

I shared a third of my life with Film Threat, and I’ve been there for almost half of its; I have no regrets, I had a solid run. It’s just time to move on and tackle the next adventure.

    Hi Mark!

I am bummed, but very happy that FT will continue. As a former FT contributor (and currently editor of a tech website), I know all too well how much work goes into it. Thank you thank you thank you for keeping the lights on, and letting the prodigal son return. I wish you the very best going forward and look forward to reading you wherever you end up.

    Best
    Charles Martin
