View Full Version : The first to be critical: T&A?

Okay, since this is the hate mail forum, I'm going to go out on a limb and be the first person to actually put a little hate in hate mail (just a little).
The subject: T & A
What's with all the bimbo interviews lately? I'm as red-blooded as the next guy, but some of the gore queen bimbos that have been interviewed lately are hardly newsworthy.
I know sex sells and all, but am I the only one who isn't the least bit interested in hearing what the star of Vampire Slut Vixen Sleepover Part 7 has to say about her "acting" career.
I think there were 5 such interviews in August over 2 weeks. I know we all need some T&A now and again but that's why god invented porn.
Anyone else notice a little extra silicon in film threat this month?

I think you should be careful who you refer to as a "bimbo" or a "silicone gore queen", friend. Just because you've never heard of them doesn't give you the right to make that assumption. I can't think of a single b-movie lady that's been covered who came off or even qualifies as a "bimbo".
There are all sorts of sub-sets to indie entertainement. Every single one of those sub-sets is valid in and of itself. There are plenty of fans of these movies, of these ladies, and they're not going around bashing the things you're into. Gross stereotyping isn't the best way to make friends around here, either.
And as I'm married to one of the so-called "bimbos", I'm REALLY displeased.

Yes, my choice of words was tacky. But since this is the hate mail forum I was trying to be antagonistic. No personal slags intended.
My point was that the ratio of interviews for this sub-genre was rather high. It came across as throwing in extra T&A content on the site (while I have no doubt that these women are intelligent, but if you look at the photos, they are not being MARKETED for their brains).

Okay, how do you market someone's brains? Particularly in a photograph?
I see the interviews entirely differently. I don't feel that the interviews even touched to any great degree on T&A content - of their films, modeling, et al.
Keep in mind, I have nothing really to gain here. I didn't conduct the interviews; most of the women I believe you're referring to are not friends of mine. I'm trying to stress, however, that there are multiple aspects of the entertainment industry, and the aspect that you're complaining about is just as valid as the others.
FT went through a period a few months ago interviewing documentarians on a weekly basis. A month back they were talking to people whose work can mainly be found on the Internet. Are either of those groupings invalid? Again, just because it's Hate Mail doesn't mean stones should be thrown - particularly at those who aren't around to defend themselves.

I don't read all of the scream queen interviews, but I think it's nice to have a place where cast and crew from the lesser known reaches of cinema can be heard. Mike pointed out that the site tends to go through cycles of a certain type of interview, and if we have a few more scantily clad ladies than some, well, whatever gets your hit count up, I reckon.
All I know is that Chris Parcellin is a lucky bastard.

If Cinemafantastique could get away with it for years, why the hell not Film Threat?

Aw, I kinda liked Cool Runnings - I know, there are some things you don't HAVE to admit...

Yeah, there seemed to be a lot lately, but I personally just read those pieces for the pictures. Truthfully, there's a good mix of serious filmmaker interviews, just go to our archives, so I don't see how a little T&A hurts.
Plus, some of those actresses in those interviews say the darndest things. I swear, some of that stuff is pee-your-pants funny. Considering we update with about five new interviews a week, if a few of them are with scream queens, what the heck.

For the record, one of the things I love about Film Threat is the diversity of it's columns. I was just commenting that were a lot of half-nekkid ladies as of late.

A criticism is fine. I think the person who initiated this thread brought up a fair one. And we responded with our points of view. Isn't that what these are forums are supposed to be about?
How exactly are we supposed to react?

Problem is, there was no serious T&A in Cool Runnings.
Nude bobsled teams. Yep. Now there's a movie concept...
...and HOW DARE YOU GUYS think otherwise!

I think nude bobsledding would be painful as hell but I'd still show up to see the women's teams compete.

Ouch.
There's good nudity and then there is bad nudity. That would be bad nudity.

Er, okay, I seem to have posted a response to a different thread in this one. Sorry about that. So what if I DID like COOL RUNNINGS though?

At least you're man enough to admit it, Mike.
