Picked this up off of Reuters (Hollywood Reporter). Let's hope this is a real hard "R", and the pun is intended as well. Hard...huhuhuhuh

For 'Shame,' Ullman Joins Dirty Waters

By Chris Gardner and Ian Mohr

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Tracey Ullman is getting down and dirty with camp auteur John Waters.

The Emmy-winning "Tracey Takes On..." star has signed as the lead in Waters' upcoming "A Dirty Shame," with singer-actor Chris Isaak also set to join the cast.

Johnny Knoxville, Selma Blair, and Paul Giamatti are already attached to the project, about a working-class convenience store owner (Ullman) who suffers a concussion only to become a sex addict with wild urges. Isaak will play her husband, who is trying to restore order with his wife and daughter.

The project is due to start shooting later this year in Baltimore. Sources said either New Line Cinema or its specialty arm Fine Line Features will be the likely distributor.

Ullman's directorial debut, "The Ruby Romaine Trailer Tales," is airing on HBO.

Isaak recently wrapped up his final season of Showtime's "The Chris Isaak Show," which will premiere in January. He's currently on a U.S. tour with his band and Lisa Marie Presley.

I am SOO glad that after those mid-80's doldrums that Waters has been getting back on track lately with Pecker and Cecil B Demented. If I ever won the Mega-Ball, I'd use the money to get John financed more regularly.

Technically, Waters didn't make any movies in the "mid-80's," which is what, 84-85-86? There's something like five years between "Polyester" and "Hairspray."

BUT...

As goofy as "Cry-Baby" is, it's still a fun movie. A bit too PG-13 for my tastes, but "Serial Mom" more than makes up for it. "Cry-Baby" isn't quite "Hairspray," but it doesn't purport to be that movie anyway. He had a whole new audience with the PG "Hairspray," but that didn't stop him from being subversive. Just because his 80's movies weren't shot on 16MM and didn't have poop-eating scenes, doesn't mean that he was in his doldrums. I think the guy improves with every movie, especially his last two. This new one should be fantastic. All it's missing is Kevin Nealon, heh!

Well if he wasn't making movies during the mid-80's then it was part of the doldrums wasn't it?
