This review is less a review of Return of the King, as much as it is an Anti-Star Wars Prequel rant.

I find it impossible to compare the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, based on 50 year old novels (an incredible source material), versus a sci fi serial.

Try reviewing the movie for what it is, not what it compares (or does not compare) to.

Lord of the Rings is probably the most moving cinematic experience I've ever had, and, as evident from the "trilogy Tuesday" marathon of special editions back to back with the Reutrn of the King - it really is just one movie with one story broken into 3 parts.

This is probably the singular worst review I've ever seen on Film Threat. Very little said at all about the nuance or depth, - just fluff and a whole lot of George Lucas rants like a spoiled child who feels like he had his Star Wars toys taken away.

I hate people who do this. I am HUGE, HUGE Star Wars fan, who has become a HUGE fan of LOTR. I am sick of people trying to compare the two.
LOTR is a great film, the greatest adaptation of novels in cinematic history, while Star Wars is the greatest original serial/saga ever. I hate people who bash Star Wars in reviews of other films. If you dislike it fine, but if you go on and on about it, especially when your subject is something else entirely, I have a problem with it.
Does Mr. Morris realize that the Original Trilogy had wooden acting and bad dialogue? NO! He was a kid when he saw it! He didn't care about that stuff then! Did he expect the prequels to be like the OT? OF COURSE! Did he expect the Phantom Menace to live up to the hype, as I am sure he did for The Matrix Reloaded? OF COURSE! That is why he has a problem with the prequels.
Peter Jackson is a genius, as is George Lucas. Unfortunately it will take a viewing of Episode III, and then the entire saga of Star Wars back to back for people like Clint Morris to see that Lucas is.
Oh well, some people aren't as smart as others!

I agree, it's a little silly for Star Wars to figure so frequently in a review for Lord of the Rings, but the two film series (three, if you wanna toss the Matrix (Matrices?) in there) are inextricably linked in the big picture.

George Lucas IS a genius though: a genius of technology and marketing. He's lost his knack for storytelling along the way though. His prequels are akin to Dune for Shitheads.
