First of all I need to say that I can't stand latter-day Looney Tunes. What once used to seem effortless, is all now very self concious. While I had a slight interest in seeing what Joe Dante did with the material, the real reason I wound up watching this was to take my daughter. This movie is just awful. Where once Dante was one of the hippest directors working in Hollywood, this film is pure hackwork and makes Space Jam look inspired by comparison. Perhaps you can blame the editing for the lack of snap in the visual jokes, but this film struck me as trying too hard to straddle the line between humor that kids find funny and references that appeal to the adults (Pixar films strike that balance very well). Well, my kid seemed to like it at least. However, as an adult who "got" most of the references tossed out to me, they seemed to just kind of lay there as opposed to striking some kind of nostalgic chord. And don't get me started on that marblemouthed and malnourished chipmunk by the name of Jenna Elfman. Sheesh she gets on my nerves.

Even a small part by Mary Woronov couldn't save this one.
