Giant. Killer. Rabbits.
Night of the Lepus (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000A0GOGE/qid=1128600754/sr=8-1/ref=pd_bbs_1/103-4164391-5111006?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846)
This used to play on USA at like 2:00am on a Saturday. One of the finest bad movies ever.

Can't go wrong with those buck-toothed flesh-eating floppy eared mutants. :D

Greatest giant-mutant-bunnies-chowing-down-on-has-been-stars movie of all time.

Wasn't there clips of this movie in "Natural Born Killers"?

Saw this at the drive-in when it was in first run. My cousin had a huge crush on DeForest Kelley, so I got schlepped along. (Why she had a crush on him I don't know.)
One of the best worst movies ever. A laugh riot.

Deforest Kelley: Sex God.
I saw it like 10 years ago with some others in the TV lounge in residence, I seem to recall a scene of bunnies hopping through a toy town with growling animal noises dubbed in.
Although the movie was bad, it was still faster paced than the horror film NIGHT OF THE KILLER SLOTH.

Yes. Yes, there were.
"Same old dream...chased by...Mr. Rabbit...giant claws...party hat..."
So, I'm trying to think of all the "horror" movies made about less-than-threatening creatures running amok. Let's see:
Frogs -- "Frogs."
Shrews -- "The Killer Shrews"
Cockroaches -- "Big Bug" or "Bug!"
Rabbits -- "Night of the Lepus"
Bees -- "The Swarm"
Earthworms -- "Squirm"
Ants -- "Them!"
Locusts -- "Locusts"
Can anyone think of any more? Hybrids (like "Invasion of the Bee Girls") don't count. And, I'm not including spiders, because they can be a realistic threat, whether it's a flesh-eating-bacteria-carrying Brown Recluse or a just-plain-poisonous Black Widow.

Oh, sure--there's plenty!
) Additional Antagonistic Arthropods--Ticks, Empire of the Ants, Killer Bees, Centipede...really, listing these could go on and on
) Awful Avians--Beaks, and how DID you forget The Birds? :)
) Predatory Porcines--Pigs, Razorback
) Fatal Felines--The Corpse Grinders, Strays
) Malevolent Mollusks--Slugs brought us, um, slugs (and it was based on a shitty novel, the kind that glutted B. Dalton stores in the 80s)
) Sanguinary Simians--Link, Monkey Shines
) Rabid Ruminants--The title says it all, with the title being Barn of the Blood Llama!

The Giant Leeches
The Deadly Mantis
The Black Scorpion
I qualify this one by saying that the scorpions used in the film, Emperor and Mexican Rock, are as harmless as a bee and are not inclined to sting. (They're used in movies and tv because they're harmless, docile, and look really badass.) I used to raise both varieties as a hobby, and had no fear of letting them walk on my skin. I've never been stung or pinched by them.
I'm waiting for a "Killer Butterfly" movie. (Mothra doesn't count.)

Squirm was a good one about worms.

Night of the Lepus has one of the great lines in cinema history.
"Attention! Attention! Ladies and Gentleman, attention! There is a herd of killer rabbits is headed our way and we desperately need your help!"
That is now my answering machine message.

This movie was filmed in my hometown. I must say, the residents of the town are about as cheesy as the film.
It was great, though, when the makers of this blockbuster involved so many natives in the making of the film.
At the time, I thought it was a fantastic movie... but it was the seventies... and we rolled a lot. A LOT.
Some reviews say this was an unspecified location in the southwest. However, at one point, one of the actors gets on the phone and barks, "Get me Ajo College!"
At that point, I believe they show a picture of the University of Arizona. The town (he was at the swimming pool) in which the actor was making the call was Ajo, Arizona. There was no Ajo College in the town of 7,000.
As obscure as Ajo, AZ might seem, just look at your globe. About 99% of all globes have it on there. I figure it is because of Night of the Lepus.

I was a student at the University of Arizona at the time this film was being made and watched them make a section of it there. As I remember they filmed it on an older part of the campus where there was a lot of shade-not far from my dormitory which is now gone, I think. I still remember seeing Rory Calhoun and how black his hair looked-not a strand of gray hair. I've only seen part of the movie on cable before I had a VCR many years ago. I've always wanted to see it all but an opportunity hasn't been there.
