All of us have winced at how movies portray certain aspects of jobs folks hold in real life. Movies get that day-to-day working stiff stuff all wrong.

An example. The first time I saw Jurassic Park I knew nothing about UNIX programming. I recently viewed this movie again after many years.

I must say that the portrayal of the young girl navigating the UNIX program at the end was dead accurate (Yeah! Right!)

All I have to say is:

cp -p shit_spielberg_computer_savy.-H dopey_jurassic_computer_nerd.-S

I'm sure we all have tons of niggling peaves about movie stuff like this.

I dont nitpick so much as I just break things down a lot.

Most of the time my gripe is with how Hispanics are portrayed. This isn't a MAJOR issue with me, don't get me wrong, but it's sometimes a pet peeve how the hispanics always have an accent, and speak part spanish-part English in their speech, and have tattoos. It's annoying.

It's also annoying how we can see people type on the computer and never hear them hit the space bar, and there can be so much chase sequences without running anyone down or encountering traffic.

But most of my annoyances come from technical stuff. For example the Dawn of the Dead remake. There were SOOOOOOO many plot holes and lapses of logic, but one of the main gripes with it were the fact that these people suddenly became skilled marksmen in a matter of weeks.

Even in the beginning, most of them could shoot without hesitation. I consulted someone experienced with fire arms and he said the way these people in this remake suddenly knew how to shoot so well was incredibly exxaggerated.

I mean you're confused, distressed, and never handled a fire arm in your life, but you can still run and shoot these rapid fire monsters from a distance? Riiiiiight.

I'll think of more, but that was just off the top of my head.

i tend to nitpick (er wince) at continuity errors.

i dont get as upset about some chase sequences running so smoothly b/c i say to myself, "it was scripted to be a smooth chase sequence" or "they obviously blocked off an entire highway or block or what not" and if there are any traffic situations, it's either b/c that traffic is *universally* perceived as characteristic of that city or that it's scripted. LA, NYC.

i love how nobody goes to the bathroom or wears their seatbelt unless it's crucical to the plot. and if people do go to the bathroom, they dont always wash their hands--which is a very accurate depiction of reality.

when hands are washed, a conversation, monologue, or scary-face-in-mirror is going on.

im sure psychiatrists and an assortment of scientists are always saying "that would never fly in a real office/professional setting" or "that isnt even science-fiction, it's science-farce."

I've never liked when someone gets hung up on on the phone and the dial tone comes on. That's weird.

Especially on a cell phone.

I hate when people die in movies, and their other loved ones pick themselves right up and move on...continue chasing the bad guys...etc. In real life, a death would put someone on their knees. Atleast for a time...

Also...I hate how no one says goodbye on the phone. They say what they have to say and hang up. If that happend to me in r/l, I'd be pissed.
