Donny Osmond as Luke Skywalker, Marie Osmond as Princess Leia, Kris Kristofferson as Han Solo, Redd Foxx as Obi Wan Kenobi, Paul Lynde as Darth Vader's aide-de-camp, and the "real" C3PO, R2D2, Chewbacca and Darth Vader!

See for yourself!

You just described what the entire prequel trilogy should have been. :D

Ah ha ha~! I vaguely remember this show in primetime. God love the 70's!

Thanks for the chuckle, Phil. Makes me wanna see it on tape.

I don't know what is worse, that or the fact that I remember tuning in to watch that show.

Oh well.

An interesting sidebar to this involves a Utah urban myth involving Paul Lynde. Rumor has it that after taping the Donny and Marie show he was arrested for brawling at a notorious Utah gay hangout, the Sun Bar. I don't know if it is true, but Utahns sure love to gossip about it.

Judex, you're KILLING me!
The only thing better than the D&M show was the "Star Wars" TV Christmas
special on the wookie planet... anyone remember that?...

Ellen :p :p :p

Wait a minute!

Are you saying that Paul Lynde was gay?

Well, no one is sure. It was a gay bar where he was in the brawl. Maybe he was gay. Maybe he got in a fight when he realized the hot blonde babe he was picking up on had some equipment he wasn't expecting. It's a mystery.

If you read the Bootleg Files, you'll see that Lynde was openly gay, one of the first celebrities to be so. The bit from the article mentions a fan who asked Lynde why he never married. His response was, "Do you live in a cave?"

Ellen: Not only has the Bootleg Files covered "The Star Wars Holiday Special," but the Den of Sin showed it during their own Holiday Special. Seek out both articles on the site.

Yeah, that's probably the reason he got in the brawl, a simple case of wrong place wrong time topped off with a little mistaken identity. Yeah, that's the ticket...

Paul Lynde was the very model of macho heterosexuality. Right up there with other hetero role models like Oscar Wilde, Liberace, Elton John, and Boy George.

Wait a minute...

D (a.k.a. Darth Tater),
According to the "E! True Hollywood Story", Paul Lynde was the Rock Hudson of 60's & 70's American sitcoms!... Poor bastard! In my opinion, his greatest role was on Hollywood Squares... then again, I also had a crush on Donny Osmond, so what do I know?!

Help me Obi-wan, you're my only hope!
Ellen ;)

I saw that as a kid and remember thinking how let down that Harrison Ford wasn't playing Han Solo. It was a crime in my mind!
