It's hard to say this because the original Saturday Night Live was such a groundbreaking revelation. I apologize to the genius of John Belushi, but after seeing Adam Sandler's defication on The Longest Yard which I predicted here

Can we finally admit that Saturday Night Live is the worst thing to happen to movies ever. Take away a couple Belushi, Murphy, and Murray movies we're left with off the top of my head

Doctor Detroit
Daddy Day Care
Caddyshack 2
It's Pat
Beverly Hills Cop 3
Beverly Hills Ninja
Down to Earth
Coneheads
Black Sheep
Little Nicky
The entire Chevy Chase Ouvre minus Fletch and Caddyshack plus his talk show
Deuce Bigalow
The Animal
The Ladies Man
Waynes World 2
Pluto Nash

Jesus do we need to go on.

Sadly Lorne Michaels doesn't just make bad movies, he's almost destroyed the genre of sketch comedy for American TV.

I knew there was something terribly wrong when I saw a 'behind the scenes' look at SNL. During a writer's conference no one dared laughed, for fear of showing approval for another writer's work at the expense of their own. I've worked on shows for radio and stage and unless you can crack each other up, you're not going to put out your funniest material, only the stuff of whatever writer has the most pull with the producer. And if the writer's too busy brown-nosing, they ain't going to write funny material.
