The movie's not out until September 30th but you can certainly whet your appetitie with this.

Was that a Reaver I saw? Outstanding.

Where was Book? I didn't see him anywhere.

He's listed in the IMDb, but I have a bad feeling he may get offed early on.

Blink and you'll miss Kaylie too.

Here's a quote that has my toes a-twitter:

"According to an interview with Alan Tudyk, this is the first movie in a three-picture Firefly contract with Universal."

This bodes well for Book; maybe he just didn't make the initial trailer.

Here's a shot of that reaver.

I watched it three times and, were it not for that fact my body was about to fall down from sheer exhaustion, probably would have watched it 17 more.

Hadn't noticed the absence of Kaylee or Book (see above, Re: exhaustion) but I'm sure that they were just sacrificed at the alter of Having Things Blow Up. As I stated in my review on my MMM: Blog, did anyone else notice the ship's engines make noise in space, or at least seemed to? I'd hate for that to be changed as it was one of those things I really dug about the show.

The movie site (www.serenitymovie.com) has a still gallery that shows a shot of the crew (with Kaylie, without Book), and one of Mal talking to Book at some kind of camp mess tent. From the look of the image, Book is doing some kind of missionary work. I'm probably wrong about that, but at least he's in the flick. IMDb lists Ron Silver as part of the main cast, as well.

It's possible they dubbed audio over the ships in space for the trailer. Most folks who haven't seen the show wouldn't know about that bit of business, so they'd probably think the video was screwed up. Plus, trailers often contain footage that doesn't make the final cut. I'm gonna keep believing that space will be silent.

Didn't know my esteemed colleague PVDH was a fellow Browncoat....Anyhow, based on things that were said at a recent appearance in Long Beach, I had the general impression that Book in particular probably survives THIS one.

However, knowing Mr. Whedon's history of breaking audience hearts, I'm not sure that anyone's survival is guaranteed for too long. I'd be surprised if Mal didn't survive the first movie or two, but as for anyone else, well, all I can say is that Joss once destroyed the very SOUL of one of his most lovable characters. The man is a sadistic killer -- in a nice way, of course.
