Probably more like an Oscar LOCK-OUT. The only Oscars this movie could possibly get are probably going to be all technical like editing or cinematography or perhaps art design. If Uma gets nominated for actress, she'd have to be a looooooooongshot.

Too right, Ricky. Genre movies rarely get academy recognition for anything beyond technical achievements. Genre movies are seen as low-brow, ghettoized entertainment.
Kinda sucks.

I have to add my 2 cents, which being Canadian are about 1.25 cents American.
Sadly, despite good reviews, despite good box office, and despite the hopeful support & prayers of millions of film geeks around the world KILL BILL will not win anything outside the technical categories.
Here are the things going against it.
It's really really violent. Hollywood is leery against nominating violent movies. Their worried that the pro-censorship lobbies going to have their ass on a platter for 'promoting' violence. There are people who still think THE MATRIX inspired Columbine even those psycho dweebs never saw it.
It's R Rated. Pretty much the same argument with the issue of violence. Just that you can include all the other things that make a movie R-Rated in it as well, like sex, coarse language & mature subject matter. The Academy does not want to be seen condoning these.
It's not exactly a heartwarming picture. There's no courage in the face of a terminal disease, or racism and no life lessons from an adorable mentally handicapped person. Perhaps Tarantino should have cast Tom Hanks & called it GUMP FICTION. (An old joke, but I couldn't resist.)
That's just a few reasons why KILL BILL will go home Oscar-less this year. One could always pray for a miracle, but they'll probably end up nominating Cuba Gooding Jnr. for that misplaced movie of the week called RADIO.

Maybe it's just because of my evil nature but I can't help but start giggling every time I see the ads for Radio. I can't believe it's not a Zucker bros. comedy.

:D Actually it sounds more like the Farrelly Bros. after a bad weekend of smoking weed soaked in bug spray, power chugging discount tequila, and reading the entire Oprah Book Club catalogue.:D

I was trying so hard to remember the Farrelly bros. name for that post but my brain was vapor locked (or something) so I had to resort to the Zuckers.

I wept for days after the heartwrenching performance of Cuba Gooding Jr. People will be amazed at his subtley and range. No wonder he is already an Oscar winner...
...I should mention that I am both deaf and blind and currently reside in Bellevue.

Another reason it won't win (or likely be nominated) is that it's one of two parts. That, unfortunately, helped to divide the Lord of the Rings vote, too. That's my one cent.
I'll give you the second cent in 6 months.
