i know its no big deal, but a movie theatre near my house finally has arm rests that go up. imagine being able to save 3-5 seats just by laying down & saying "theyre all taken."

Depends on how tall you are.
It also helps if you have some kind of visible skin condition.

Mmmmm... moveable arm rests.
Of the twenty movies I am/have attended at the viff all but four have been at this one theater with gawdawful seats. Chintzy, uncomfortable little plastic numbers from fifteen or twenty years ago. They're horrible. The arm rests only reach to about mid forearm on me and as a result should I actualy attempt to rest my arms upon them then I end up losing the circulation in my hands within five minutes.
Feh. Hate that theater.

Nothing like a really bad seat to aggrevate early arthritis and let you know how really old you're becoming. I'm so thankful for the huge Captian-Kirk-like seats. Some of them actually recline! And when you're in a theatre with very little attendance (like most off-beat-independent films) you can slide your feet in between the seats in front of you. Multiplexes are inherently evil, but man, I can forget that for two hours of cushioned paradise.
...now, if we can only change the food.
