Here's an asshole that should have made the list; hell, he should probably be on top. Who, you ask?
John Vernon!
His resume' of assholery knows no bounds, and crosses all genres--comedies, family froth, horror, and even animation.
We've seen him as the hostile Dean Wormer, (Animal House), the smarmy gold pusher Mr. Big (I'm Gonna Get You Sucka!), the nigh-homicidal construction magnate Sherman Krader (Ernest Goes to Camp), the wound-so-tight-he's-gonna-go-all-Rodney-King cop Curtis Mooney (Killer Klowns from Outer Space), and crime kingpin Boss Rupert Thorne (Batman: The Animated Series).
Oh, yeah...Pete Vonder Haar is an asshole, too.

BRADLEY WHITFORD (Eric Gordon in Billy Madison, Mike Toddwell in Adventures in Babysitting, Roger in Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise
He's otherwise known as Josh Lyman on The West Wing, but this great actor is best at playing wonderous assholes in teen comedies. He was the frat leader who wanted all nerds banished in Nerds II, he was the arrogant, unfaithful boyfriend to Elisabeth
Shue in Adventures in Babysitter and he is probably best known as the slimy asshole who wanted to destroy Adam Sandler in Billy Madison. Hail Bradley Whitford!

Gotta love that guy! But he does actually have one pleasant moment in 'Breakfast Club' providing the most memorable, non-sensical line of the film, "HAGADA!!!"
My vote? Well, it's gotta be everyone's metaphorical Dad, Kurtwood Smith, of course. I remember resenting the hell out of that guy the first time I saw 'Dead Poets Society.' Just let the pansy be an actor for pete's sake!

Everybody should see Sweet Movie just so I won't be alone in this one.

Blossom wins the prize for the best real life asshole. This diabolical bastard tortured his "brothers" ruthlessly in the documentary Frat House. When his pea-sized brain finally realized everything he was doing was being filmed he turned on the filmmakers and threatened them with violence if they didn't leave. He was probably a 6th year senior at the time, yet only carried a beat up spiral notebook to class. Classic. How this guy got into college at all shows the sorry state of education in America. It looks like he was just there for the sadism anyway.
So Blossom gets my vote for biggest asshole ever put to film!

Hmmm...
I dunno if this one is as "good" as the others, but Glenn Shadix was good as the ambiguously flaming, obnoxious, artsy-fartsy prick "Otho" in "Beetlejuice". He's easily 1988's most punchable movie character.

J.T. Walsh, God rest his soul. From Good Morning Vietnam to Sling Blade to The Negotiator, he always gave it his all.

Here's an actor who I think tops the asshole-character list.
John Glover. :)
In movies & TV shows he brings major league, manipulative, egocentric, narcissistic and sociopathic assholes to life and really seems to enjoy doing it. It warms the heart to see someone enjoy doing his work, especially when he's playing characters you love to loathe.

...were Raymond and Connie Marble in Pink Flamingos (played by David Lochary and Mink Stole). After all. in the film itself they are tried, convicted and executed for "asshole-ism".

Eddie Deezen in every film he was ever in. Whatever happened to him?
And who cares.

Claude Rains. But that accent made him so adorable.
