Anybody else see this? The most "original" horror movie I've seen in a while (execution wise...)... It had a very Evil Dead-esque feel to it, hard to find in these days of $50 million budgets...

I work at a theater and have not seen the whole thing all at once. I did see the ending though and thought...
A) They totally ripped off from the "last survivor" scene from Night Of The Living Dead
B) They left an open end for a sequel.

I just saw this movie and was very disappointed for the same reasons others seem to like it. Namely, how much it resembles "Evil Dead," but with a virus instead of demonic possession. Well, that's part of the problem right there. In "Cabin Fever," all they really had to do was quarantine the sick and walk right out of there. In "Evil Dead," there was truly no escape. The futility of the situation was part of the dread.
Don't get me wrong, I had fun at this movie, but that's because I was laughing so hard. The jokes were intentional, and the first act had me cracking up so bad I was crying, but when a horror film hits better with its jokes than with its scares, it's not really working as a horror film.

Yeah, I'm lukewarm on this one, too. Gotta say though, it will always live in my heart for the "Pancakes" scene alone. Dear lord that was bizarre...

Yeah, that scene was nuts. I was more scared of the hillbilly kid than I was of the flesh-eating bacteria.
I also gotta say that the leg-shaving scene had me squirming pretty well. Despite my bitching, I'll admit this movie does has its moments.
