Just got the new DVD release of Freaks. What a crazy movie. Any film that destroys a director's career is usually pretty interesting (mediocracy has never harmed a Hollywood film maker). I had only seen it once many years before in some retrospective wuth a really crappy print.

My only complaint is that they should have reinserted the scene at the end where the tree crushes Cleopatra's legs. Oh well, guess you can't have everything.

Also picked up High School Confidential. Probably the greatest anti-drug movie ever made. All I can say id. Get it or you are dragging your rear axile in waltz time, daddyo.

It really is a fine DVD, and the doco is super sweet. I am happy that they used a real cover instead of a crappy 'faces' one. Kudos Warner Bros. Kudos.

I must say that I've never heard of this particular scene before, let alone seen it.

Freaks is a great movie, but you mentioning this makes me think of Michael Powell and Peeping Tom. A great movie that pretty much destroyed his career.

The doco on this DVD is also great. A lot of good insite about the whole film process, good stuff.
